Trips Page

I added a trips page so people can keep track of where we are going.  I’ll update soon with some info but wanted them somewhere.   See the link in the menu bar, or click here

Feel free to post in the forums if you have questions or are interested in the trips.

First POV Video with my Contour ROAM

Picked up a Contour ROAM not too long ago and this is my first trial with it on the river. I have some kinks to work out, but all in all I think it’s an awesome little waterproof “head mounted” camera.

LED Surf Board

How cool is this? A surfboard with embedded LED lights. Wonder how I could do that with a kayak for not-so-full-moon runs?

Video Roundup – just one this time…

Only one video has particularly caught my eye this week. The new Bomb Flow (Episode 3) came out a couple of weeks ago and I finally sat down and watched it this morning. Good stuff. Interesting music choices, some great video of some steep stuff in Cali. Guess we need to mount up a road trip and go see Tony.

Ocoee Trip Report

Gabe wrote up a nice summary of our Ocoee trip here.

We didn’t shoot enough video to warrant a highlight reel from this trip alone, but I’ll incorporate into an upcoming video I should have ready this fall.

New Jackson designs for 2012

Have to say, I’m pretty excited about a couple of new Jackson Kayak designs that are in the pipeline.  I’ve long felt that they’ve ignored the “river running” market, that the Fun was really more of a playboat, and the Hero was more of a creeker.  While they might have tried to market them to the river running segment, I don’t believe they did a good job of actually serving that segment.

That is about to change with the pending “Fun Runner” which looks like a stretched out Fun for those who are still looking to squirt and play a bit in their river runner, and the Zen which looks more full on river runner.

I think this is excellent and they’ll make good instructional boats (for students and instructors alike)

From JK’s site:

Fun Runner
Zen

And some better pictures from “In Between Swims”

here, here and finally here.

Labor Day Videos

Beautiful day out there, so I’m going to get off the computer and head outside… here are some videos to watch when it gets crummy out.

Charles City Whitewater Park in Iowa – gotta get here soon:

In order to get some folks jazzed about an upcoming Ocoee trip I was looking for a video… a lot of crappy videos out there, btw.  Came across this little gem, and while the audio has been stripped by Youtube (dang copyright) it’s still pretty entertaining:

Not kayaking, but an amazing Unicycle video:
